Flipping the Canoe: Reimagining an Iconic Craft interrogates a fundamental aspect of Canada’s economic history which was built on the transformation of traditional Indigenous waterways into routes for profit and power.  Upending conventional notions of an idealized Canadian icon, the humble canoe, this sculpture installation offers alternative perspectives to consider reshaping the romanticized colonial gaze of this much-loved vessel.
